Pain Away
Dallas-based artist Sharrieff aka Obsideon mixes traditional word play and hip-hop lyricism over modern instrumentation. He has been working on music since 2003, but started taking it seriously in late-2016. Growing up in Dallas, Texas he has been around music and other local Hip-Hop artists his whole life. So far in his career, Obsideon has released a 9 song EP and was one of the Hip-Hop Headliners for night one LYBL Records and Kohoutek’s joint music fest in April 2019. Some of his biggest musical inspirations are: Kanye West, Jay-Z, and Childish Gambino. For his capstone project Sharieff created a visual album. The video is accompanied by music and poetry that has been written and performed by Obsideon, acting as the main score and dialogue. The main theme that the video album focuses on, is the idea of becoming one’s true or best self and how experiences and hardships form our personality and identity. To do this he plays with an extended metaphor that pain is a vehicle to truth.
